Melanated Fabrics is a dream come true for two fabric obsessed DIY content creators. Mimi & Brittany could think of nothing better than owning an fabric store dedicated to the modern maker that provides great fabrics and strives to give back to the community that supports and grows this industry forward. Both Mimi & Brittany have an excellent eye for matching fabric to patterns, and being sewists themselves; they know exactly what their customers want. More importantly, this is a business founded by two women of color who see the importance of representation and are on a mission to show that sewing is about inclusivity. Mimi & Brittany have been friends and collaborators for several years, this fabric store and creative center is the culmination of life longs dreams of two little girls who grew up to live their passions.
Melanated Fabrics is both an online fabric store with a physical location in Atlanta. The Fabric store and creative center are open to the public Wednesday-Sunday!

Mimi G is the creator of Mimi G Style, Inc. an award-winning million-dollar business born from her love of sewing and design. Mimi is the founder of the fashion, lifestyle, and DIY blog, MimiGStyle.com, the founder of Sew It! Academy and the host of the widely popular podcast Business S.H.E.T.
What started as a hobby in Mimi’s Los Angeles home in 2012, blossomed into an international business with a daily engagement of more than 3.5 million followers across all social media platforms and 12 million page views annually with 575k unique visitors per month.
Since 2014, Mimi G. Style has partnered with Simplicity Creative Group to license, design, and market commercial sewing patterns, a decade later Mimi G's patterns are still the most successful licensee under the Simplicity brand. In 2016 Mimi G. founded Sew It Academy™ an online sewing and design school.
Mimi G. Style has collaborated with over 350 brands, is currently working on several development deals to add to her long list of successful partnerships, and most recently co-founded Melanated Fabrics.

Mimi loves bright colors & animal prints. Some of Mimi's favorite fabrics include Knits, Twill, Denim, and Rayons! As for garments, she loves to sew a great jumpsuit and all types of dresses.

Marketing Executive
In 2013 Brittany was in need of a major hobby! Being a military spouse, and mother of 3 (at that time) she had lost herself in being everything to everybody and became really depressed! She didn’t think sewing was the magic answer but she decided to give it a try after she had her third child and needed more clothes. She figured maxi skirts would be easy to make and she could make a few in different colors! So she watched a couple of Youtube videos for maxi skirts and purchased her own sewing machine in February 2014. The gratifying feeling she got from finishing her first maxi skirt hooked her! She went from maxi skirts to pajamas, to robes, and pillows. Some projects were a success, some not so much! With the help of YouTube videos, online classes, and sewing books, she got better and fell completely in love with sewing!
In 2016, she launched her blog and Youtube channel, and since she's been able to create a wardrobe that’s 90% custom made! Brittany has also been an editor for a digital sewing magazine, Sew Sew Def, collaborated with amazing online fabric stores, worked with commercial and indie pattern companies, been featured in published magazines, became an ambassador for Husqvarna Viking, and currently is an Instructor in the Sew It Academy. Most recently Brittany co-founded Melanated Fabrics.
